Pune Old City Heritage Walk

Established in the early 18th century, Budhwar Peth is one of Pune’s oldest neighbourhoods. While it is widely recognised as the city’s red-light district, Budhwar Peth holds a far richer and more layered identity, shaped by centuries of cultural evolution, social change, and political history.

On this walk, we look beyond familiar perceptions and explore the many narratives that go far beyond its brothels. As we move through its narrow bylanes, we will uncover stories of historic Wadas, striking Art Deco buildings, temples, and institutions that once played an important role in shaping the city’s social and cultural life. Through these spaces and the histories attached to them, the walk traces the evolution of communities, social structures, and everyday life in the neighbourhood. It offers an opportunity to understand how changing times and diverse influences have contributed to the distinctive cultural identity of Budhwar Peth.

The walk includes a fully guided walk with an English-speaking guide, entrance charges (wherever applicable) and some snacks & refreshments enroute.
